Ohio Senate District 27 spans a large portion of the geographical area of Summit County and represents more than 340,000 Ohioans.

Ohio's 27th Senate District is defined as comprising Ohio House Districts 41, 42 and 45.

The district includes all of the following communities:

Akron
- Ward 1 (the non-contiguous portions surrounded by Ward 8)
- Ward 6
- Ward 7
- Ward 8 (Precincts a, b, c, e, f, i, j, l, m, o, p, q, r, s, t, v, w)
- Ward 9
- Ward 10
Coventry Township
- (portions surrounded by City of Akron and portion between Akron Ward 9 and Barberton)
Springfield Township
- (only the portion surrounded by Akron Ward 6)
